Search for deleted files on the disk

In this article, I would like to talk about how to find deleted files on your computer or external drives. Files can be deleted for various reasons: accidental deletion, disk formatting, or system errors.

There are several ways to find and restore deleted files:

1. Search through the basket:
– Open the Recycle Bin folder on your desktop.
– Enter the file name (or part of it) in the search field on the top right.
– If matching results are found, select the desired file and right-click to select the “Restore” option.

2. Using data recovery software:
There are many third-party programs that will help you find and recover lost data after deleting or formatting disk space. Some of the most popular tools are Recuva,
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard,
Disk Drill
The program scans the device/disk for lost information and displays a list of found items with the option of selecting
returns.

3. Using the command line:
If you are familiar with using the command line, you can use some tools to find remote files.
– Open “Command Prompt” (in Windows) or “Terminal” (in macOS).
– Enter the following command: `chkdsk /f <диск>:`
Replace `<диск>` to the drive letter where the files were deleted.
– Wait for the scanning process and disk verification to complete. The system can automatically correct errors and return lost data.

4. Contact specialists:
If all the described methods did not help to restore the necessary files, then you should seek help from professional service centers or IT specialists,
who have certain experience working with similar problems.
