Restore data from an external drive

Data recovery from an external drive may be necessary if you have accidentally deleted files or they have become inaccessible due to disk errors. Here are some steps to help you accomplish this task:

1. Connect your external drive to the computer and make sure that it is recognized by the operating system.

2. Use specialized software for data recovery (data recovery software). There are many such software products available for free or for a paid subscription. Some of the most popular tools are Recuva, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, and Disk Drill.

3. Start the selected program of the step-by-step scanning mode: a quick scan will be the primary process for determining the remoteness of the file; in-depth analysis is carried out after the program finds all possible data on hard/virtual drives

4. View the scan results and mark the necessary files for saving.

5. Choose a new file storage location - preferably a second physical drive (preferably a partition) to minimize information loss during overwriting.

6. Save the restored files in a new location and make sure that they open correctly.

It is important to remember that the success of data recovery may depend on various factors, such as the condition of the disk and the degree of file damage. In case of problems or if you do not feel experienced enough to perform these steps yourself, it is recommended to contact a data recovery professional
