External disk recovery

Recovery of an external drive may be necessary if it has stopped working or contains damaged files. Here are some steps you can take to request data recovery from an external drive:

1. Check the connection: Make sure that the USB cable or other interface is correctly connected both to the computer/laptop and to the drive itself.

2. Use a second port/computer: If the first port does not work properly on your device (for example, there is no reaction when it is connected), try using a second available USB port or check this hard drive on another computer.

3. Start the partition management software: On Windows you can open “Disk Management”, the similar function is also on macOS – it is “Disk Utility”. There you will be able to see a list of all physical and logical partitions associated with all available information storage.

4. Data recovery software: There are many specialized software tools for data recovery from damaged or formatted drives. Some of them include Recuva, TestDisk and EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard.

5. Contact professionals: If all the above methods did not help or the device has physical damage (for example, a broken USB connector), it is better to contact a data recovery specialist for help.

It is important to note that there is always a risk of permanently losing data when trying to solve hard disk problems on your own. Therefore, before starting any manipulations with your files of external stored information, try to create a backup of all valuable materials for you!
