Excel file recovery
Recovering an Excel file can be a fairly simple process if you take action immediately after the incident. Here are some ways to recover Excel files:
1. Check the trash: If you deleted a file by mistake, the first place to check is your trash on your computer or cloud storage (for example, Dropbox). Just open the recycle bin and find the deleted file there.
2. Use the "Undo" function: If only a closed or modified file was saved before its data loss, you can use the "Undo" command (Ctrl + Z) to undo the last operations and return the data to the state before the unexpected changes.
3. Automatic recovery: Microsoft Office has an automatic backup function of the execution time of Office applications (AutoRecover/AutoSave), which allows you to automatically create backup copies of working documents every few minutes.
The following information will most likely be needed to find these temporary/recreated items:
a) Open MS Excel software
b) Click File > Open, and then navigate to the folder where Excel files are usually stored.
c) At the bottom of the window, open the "File type" drop-down list and select "All files".
d) Find a temporary or automatically saved file with a name like “~$filename.xlsx”. Select an ego and click the Open button.
4. Use the search function: If you cannot find deleted or lost Excel files in the recycle bin, you can use the search function of the operating system to perform a more detailed scan of your computer. Just set the search parameters so that they correspond to the file name (or partial name), format (.xlsx/.xls), date of creation/modification and the location where it was last seen.
